2010 'will be a good year for landlords'

2010 will be a good year for landlords and those in the buy-to-let
market, it has been suggested.
According to James Davies, chief executive officer of upad.co.uk,
the strengthening rental market will be beneficial for many
landlords.
"It will be a good year for landlords. There is plenty of
opportunity for purchasing property [and] there are more and more
tenants coming into the market," he commented.
Mr Davies also noted that many people are becoming increasingly
aware of the advantages of renting property, such as the
flexibility it offers and lack of unexpected financial burdens,
such as paying for repairs to boilers.
Research published by the Association of Residential Lettings
Agents on January 23rd revealed that 41 per cent of its members had
reported that they had more tenants than properties on their books
during the final quarter of 2009.
This was compared with 24 per cent who had fewer homes than tenants
in the three months previously.
