Wedmore means ‘’Hunting Lodge’’ in Anglo Saxon originating from 624 when there was a Saxon royal estate in the area. The original Post Office dated from Georgian times while the George hotel is a 16th Century coaching inn. There are 1227 listed buildings and monuments including St Mary’s Church.

The delightful village is set overlooking the Somerset levels and Cheddar Valley with views to The Mendips. Lying between the villages of Blackford and Theale, the surrounding area is made up of many beautiful hamlets.
